Tavi walked into the ball with his betrothed. Their wedding was coming up and Tavi was taking it as indifferently as possible. Over the years they had grown to like each other, well stand each other.
He scaned the room and saw Kendra. "Hey, That is my old friend from school why don't we go talk to her?" His fiance nodded and they went over. "Hello, Kendra."

Kenna was talking with her escort and fiance, Brandon. She and him, had over the years, grown to love each other, if not as husband and wife, atleast as best friends. Hell, they even had a secret handshake, despite their mature appearences.
"Hello?" She said, turning around to someone saying her name.

"Sorry, Kenna. My memory has truely gone out the the window. Just ask Rae here. I'm Tavi, do you remember me from school?" Tavi said as politely as possible. He really thought her name was Kendra for a second.

"Oh, yes! Tavi! How good to see you again? How have you been?" She asked. She did remember him, but it had been a long time. She called her fiance over. He was a tall, serious, regal man around others, but around her he was a fun, goofy person who just liked to hang out. That's what she loved about him.
"This is my fiance, Brandon Savoyer." She said. "Brandon, this is my old school chum, Tavi."

"Nice to meet you,"Taron said offering his hand to the gentleman. Kenna's eyes seemed to light up when he came over, she was at least in love with him. "This is my fiance Reachelle and Reachelle this is Kenna, an old friend." Taron introduced them.

"I've been okay. The usual things that I have to do. My dad had me work my way up through the ranks of the military before he would let me take over for him," Tavi said. He had gone into the military willingly because it had gotten him out of the house and away from he father's 'training sessions.' Tavi put his arm around Rea's waist. "How have you been?"

"I took over my duchy last year." She said. "Of course, it will be nice when Brandon and I are married and can help each other." The dancing started then. Of course, Brandon had claimed her for the first dance.
"Oh! Well, we better get going." She said, going onto the dance floor with Brandon. After a few dances, he had to go and dance with his sister and she went and sat down in a chair nearby.

Tavi watched them dance away and Rea pulled him to the dance floor. After awhile Rea's father came to cut in. Tavi handed her over and noticed Kenna at a table by her self. He went over and sat down. "You love him don't you?" Tavi asked. It might have been a few years and he might not have the best memory for name even the ones of his once best friend but he still remembered her, just not her name.

"Yeah." She said, softly. "More than he realizes, I'm sure. I may not have picked him myself, but I love him and I want to make this work. What about you and Reachelle?"
It had been a few years, but he was still her friend.

"My sister and her husband are the same. They've been married for 2 years now, and it's not going well. But they can't divorce, because of the nature of their marriage contract." She said. "Maybe your marriage will be better."

Tavi nodded. Him and Rea were going to have a rocky marriage at best. "Always were the optimist weren't you, Kenna." Tavi said with a semblance of a smile.
