"It's rather hard to be an optimist in times like these." Kenna said. "But I try. I have to stay strong for Brandon. His territory borders Onoska, and people keep getting attacked by Onoskans. He's having a tough time with that. My territory borders his, so we send help, of course, but still. It's not enough."

"Yes, this war is taking a major toll. I had no idea that the Onoskans would be able to pull it back together so quickly. I'm worried about what my father got us into." Tavi said. The drunk ass probably dug them into a hole.

"We'll see how it turns out. I'd rather they just give in and no more lives be lost, but I do admire their spirit." Kenna said. "It's rather fitting, given the last twenty years in that country."

"Yes, they do tend to persevere." Tavi agreed. "I personally would perfer this war just to end as well, but I'm not in charge. How is your life as a Duchess?"

"Boring paperwork, planning my wedding, dress fittings, and listen to the complaints of my people. The last one is my favorite, since I love helping people." Kenna said. "And your shining militaristic career off to a wonderful start yet?"

Tavi let out a low dry laugh. "You always have," he said. "My career is off to a pretty good start. I've come a long way since a new pêcher in the foot ranks. My father has helped me get to where I am of course."
Tavi said that with irony heavy in his voice. His father had given him on bump in the miliary ranks, and that was only because his father decided it would benefit his career, his fathers no his son's. Tavi had other wise made it on his own- almost just in spite. He rolled his shoulders felling the scars along his back stretch.

"It's been so long, Tavi." She said, sighing. "Almost ten years. We last saw each other when we were what? Eleven, when we graduated from primary school and went to different finishing schools? Time flies so quickly."

"Yes, it has been a very long time, but that was expected given the conditions." Tavi said. "Time most defiantly flies. I'm sorry that I have lost touch with many people from those years."

"I didn't." Kenna said. "I don't like who they became, many of them. But we never lost touch because they followed a similar path as mine. If you still are even somewhat the boy I knew Tavi, you wouldn't like them either."

Tavi gave a stiff nod. He still had some of that boy in him, but boy was never an accurate word.
He relaxed and gave a sigh, "I guess they would have changed."

"It was inevitable. It didn't happen when we were teenagers though. It happened around the time we turned eighteen. They lost their dignity. And I suppose I lost mine." Kenna said.

Tavi, again, frowned. "Eighteen is still technically a teenager," he said. He didn't know what royalty had gone through, he was strictly military.

"We came of age them, in the world of nobility." She said. "At that point in time, we ceased to be teenagers, despite our age. We became adults. We were given everything. All we had to do was obey this person who said that they would show us what to do. He ruined us. Not money-wise, but soul-wise."

Tavi nodded. He understood, each of them had been taught and created into the 'royals'- that was the nickname for them among the military. It wasn't the most creative but it sufficed. "There are many that would tell you that they were born with out souls." Tavi said, gravely. "Most had them, but they were stolen."

Kenna smiled, sadly.
"I had a soul. I still have one." She said. "It's just a little bit darker and has some greedy tendancies."
