"I don't remember. I told Elly she was a monkey one day and after that, I just gave everyone else an animal." Rastus said, shrugging. "Yeah, I guess Elly & Aeron's Mom was friends with May's mom. I don't really know, they dont' talk about their parents 24/7 you know."

"Oh okay." Phyre said. "What are you doing in town anyway?"

"Don't ask." He said. "Let's just say that I had an eventful night."

Phyre nodded. "Figures." he said. "It doesn't really seem all that war like around here. It seems kind of normal. I expected it to more.... I don't know.... sad."

"It....it normally is. But we haven't had an attack on the city in about a month, so people aren't as cautious. But they should be. It's in times like these that we need caution. Because they're more likely to strike when we've let our guard down. One thing I know is that there is no way in hell they're getting me alive." Rastus said.

"Are the Rassi's really that bad? I haven't heard very much." Phyre asked. "May doesn't talk about them very much."

"They get you, your life is over. They will torture you painfully. Normally not even to get information out of you, but because they want to. There are actually a lot of Onoskan teens our age who have Rasselian heritage in them. Because of this Rassi's will kidnap them and throw them in jail and torture them as traitors. Just for being born!" Rastus said. "You get kidnapped by a Rassi, either try to survive or kill yourself quickly."

Phyre frowned and nodded. "Oh, they sound....evil almost." Phyre said. "The government hear doesn't treat prisoners like that do they?"

"Ask May's Dad or Elly's Dad. They are both in the guard and used to be at the level where they would be the ones carrying all that out. Especially since a war was going on when they were in the lower levels of the guard." Rastus said.

Phyre nodded. "Maybe I will later." he said. He looked around at the people again. They were starting to form into more solid packs, there were more people going into bars. He looked up at the sky. It wasn't all that late yet, though.

"During the weekdays, there's an 11 PM curfew." Rastus said. "So people get their drink on before that."

"Is every one a alcoholic basically around here? No one above the age limit seems not to drink, besides maybe Flo. Even May drinks a lot," Phyre said.

"No one under the age limit doesn't drink either." Rastus said. "We aren't supposed to leave the city, we aren't supposed to be out past eleven, the types of jobs we can have are limited, due to the fact many higher education facilities are shut down, and we have the threat of death looming over us everyday. We drink because it is our one escape. It is something that lets us forget everything. We have no control over any aspect of our lives. But even though the alcohol makes us lose control, it's still better than the alternatives."

Phyre nodded. "I would say i understand, but I don't. The place I'm from is basically all peace all the time. I get the logic of it at least." Phyre said. "How many people actually follow the rules? Obviously you, May, Elly, Gabe, and Lily don't."

Rastus smirked.
"We don't follow the rules because they've been set down by our parents. To follow them is disobeying the laws of teenage rebellion. But we do some follow some of the smarter rules, like travel in pairs or groups and such." He said.
