Amaya refilled her cup from the pitcher of ale resting on a flat rock. All around her were others of her age, Crescents and Woodlands alike. Some town kids had also wandered in, standing on the fringes. The group was a younger crowd and their youth meant that the prejudices of their parents had yet to fully sink in. Given a few more years, no one could say that this would still be true. The free flowing alcohol, supplied by the Woodlanders who brewed large quantities and always seemed to have a surplus for parties, was beginning to increase the noise levels. The sound bounced off the cave walls and the echo only made it seem louder.
Amaya searched for her dear friend, Jaysn. The girls had both agreed to meet at the party and band together to ward off any unwanted attention. It seemed like these days the two only ever met at parties, but considering it was where the two also seemed to spend every night, they never lacked for each other's company. The glow of the torches hung in notches in the cave wall and wedged between rocks light the place just enough to recognize people but low enough to provide a moody atmosphere.
A bright glint of coppery hair caught Amaya's eye. While a decent amount of Woodlanders possessed fiery hair reminiscent of the hair of Mother Mara, Amaya would know Jay's anywhere. It was hair that she knew better than her own, growing on a person that she knew better than herself.
"Jaysn! Finally!" Amaya said, rushing over as quickly as she could through the throng of people. "I've been looking everywhere for you! Do you want a drink?"

Jaysn's bullshit levels had hit the roof, her head hurt from lack booze. The Woodlanders playing for the night were good- when sober. The fiddler already had a glazed look in his eyes and one of the drummers beat was off. None of this would matter as soon as she found a drink and life started to become blurry. Honestly, anyone looking in on her would probably be concerned with how much she had been drinking, but all she had was Ama, and Ama was right there with her.
Speaking of the bitch, where the fuck was she and her luscious black hair? She shouldn't be too hard to find in a group of mostly blonde and redheaded Woodlanders, but the Crescents had come to join the fun tonight, so she'd had a harder time finding her- plus the off beat music was making her head spin. If you're gonna play do it right, drunk assholes.
Finally she heard her best friend call to her. "Hey! Yes, drink please!" She said coming over for a hug. They saw each other almost every night, something had changed in their friendship, but Jay figured it was just natural as they grew up. Pouring her drink, she asked, "So, what kind of mood are we in tonight? Sex, blood, or torture?"

Amaya crinkled her nose, thinking about their options. She'd not had too much to drink--yet, that is. She'd get there. But the music was already making her head spin round and round.
"Arguably we want to see most of the people at this party again, considering that the majority of them are Woodlanders, followed up by Crescents. But those town kids we probably won't see again. So I'll say this: Town kids only, because we need to look most of these people in the eye tomorrow. And sex. Definitely sex." Amaya answered.
She looked around. She knew the Woodlanders almost as well as the Crescents, considering that if there was a party, the two groups often partied together. But the town kids were unfamiliar, nervous, and completely out of their element. Incredibly easy to spot a mile away, even if they thought they were doing a good job of hiding it.
"Those two." She said, pointing to a male duo who were chatting with each other. "Not Crescent and unless you say otherwise, I'm guessing not Woodlander. They're standing away from the crowd, but from their body language it's not because they're just trying to get some quiet, it's because they feel awkward. They're probably only talking with each other because it's the only other person they know here. So let's go over, be our charming, friendly, lovable selves, and woo the pants off of them."

Jay glanced at the duo Ama pointed out. "Nope not woodlander. Let's go shimmie their pants off- figuratively and literally if you please."
The two girls wove their way through the crowded room, as to not make a bee line to the poor lads, and began chatting up the townies.
"The players really suck to night. I think the drummer forgot his head." Jay said.
One of the guys just seemed to nod- probably didn't want to insult anyone.

"So what are your guys' names?" Amaya asked. One of the males responded with a gruff "Erik". Amaya responded with a quick "I'm Layla and this is my friend Annaliese. We're pretty new at these parties. Is this your first time here as well?"
Erik, probably wishing to appear more social and 'in', responded that this was far from their first time at one of these parties. Of course, as Jay and Ama were at all of them, they would have known this to be a lie. But hey, this guy didn't know that.

Jay smiled at the other one, who'd introduced himself as Carter, though you could barely hear it. Poor shy baby.
Carter stuck his hands in his pockets and looked away- obviously not wanting to be there. "Erik, this is stupid. These things are just a bunch of idiots getting drunk off their face. Nothing new."
Jay laughed, and took a swig of her drink. "What's wrong with getting drunk off you face? Don't you ever loosen up?"

Erik subtly nudged his friend, urging him to be quiet. Carter might not have been interested, but Erik most definitely was and he didn't want Carter to ruin this for him.
Amaya laughed. "Yeah, come on man, loosen up a little. It's not like it'll kill you or anything!"
"I, for one, love these things. You can really just hang and not have to think too much at these things, you know?" Erik answered.

Jay nodded. "Oh yeah, brainless activities are the best right about now."
Carter shrugged. "Is there anything that isn't fruity?"
Jay burst out into laugher- already drunk off her ass. Darren must have made this shit, it was strong as hell. "Of course not! Fruit beer, the nectar of the gods!"
"HUZZAH!" Came from all of the woodlanders in ear shot.
"See? It's a thing. Right, Layla"

"Right Annaliese! Have you guys never had woodland beer before? I thought you said you went to these all the time!" Ama joked. "It is as nature intended, the good stuff!"
Erik puffed himself up. "Of course we've had it before! We drink it all the time!"
Ama internally rolled her eyes, or as internally as a drunk Ama could manage, but no one else seemed to notice. Also she needed to talk to Darren about how quickly this stuff a the affected her. Because whatever he did, he needed to repeat it. Best brewer ever!
She took another sip of her cup, which was nearly empty.
"So where are you two from?"
The two guys looked at each other.

"We're from Norra," Carter replied, with a shrug. He leaned up against the wall and was fidgeting with something in his pocket.
Jay raised an eyebrow, "Oh really? You're a lot cleaner than the stereotype."
Carter shrugged. "I need a drink."
Raising her mostly empty glass, Jay said, "Me too." She grabbed Ama's mug and went over to the beer to go fill theirs up and get Carter one. Woodlanders always know hospitality even when drunk off their ass.

"Norra? That's the cold place." Ama said. "We're not as warm as Rassel, but did you come down here for our charming southern warmth or for other reasons?"
Erik leaned against the wall next to Carter.
"We really can't talk about it, unfortunately. it's family business, you know?" Erik said. Ama understood that completely, seeing as how she was always giving answers like that to people.
Jay had returned with their ale by then and Ama thanked her, got her cup from her, and took a long swig.

"Family business? We're all family here," Jay said with a wink, handing Carter a glass of ale. "That was made by Darren, he makes the best peach beer you've ever tasted. And the strongest at that."
Carter nodded taking the glass from her. "He's being generous, it hardly counts as family."
Jay laughed. "I get that one." There was a huge crash from across the way, then someone shouted, "GET OFF ME YOU NARROW-MINDED, MURDEROUS, CHEATING BITCH!"

Ama raised an eyebrow.
"That does not sound good." She said. The shouting increased heavily and when someone tried to take a swing at her, she dodged and looked back at the group. "Let's get the hell out of here."
Erik had quickly shoved off the wall and was reaching for his dagger when it was suggested.
"Good plan" He affirmed. The small group began to wrest their way from the throng of fighting people and move out of the cave.

On their way out, Jay 'accidentally' elbowed someone in the eye. Which led to a couple seconds of punching before Carter hit the guy over the head, knocking him out.
"Nice one!" Jay said with a wink. Carter shrugged, and motioned that they should really finish leaving. Jay nodded and they finished making their way outside.
"So, where to now?" Jay asked the group when they'd made it outside.

"How about we crash at your place girl?" Ama said. "It's a hell of a lot closer than mine and it's super unlikely any drunk fighting people are going to show up."
