It was the middle of the afternoon in a forest. Athena was running through it. She had to keep running. She just had to. She didn't know if they were still after her, but did that matter? Surely they had friends who could pick up their chase. Or people who would be swayed into their cause.
She ran and ran until she broke through the edge of the forest into a large clearing....and a town. People stopped and stared at her and, from exhaustion, she passed out.

Delvin ran over to the girl that had just fainted- She was cute even with brambles in her hair. Everyone else was still in shock. He picked the girl up and took her over to the smithy where he could set her down.
He put her in the bed and went to go get some food and water for when the girl woke up.

Athena woke up in a strange room. She observed her surroundings, but she couldn't see much more than a dim light. She assumed they had caught her and captured her. Next she surveyed herself. Her once nice dress was in tatters and her shoes long discarded for easier running. Her hair was a mess and she probably looked like hell. She curled up in a ball and began to sob. She didn't see that she wasn't in a prison awaiting execution. She didn't see the man nearby. All she saw was a dim room and an old bed. Delvin walked into the girl crying. He went over to her and sat down on the end of the bed. "Excuse me? Brambles? Your safe. My name is Delvin. Delvin Oak." he said. "I don't know who you are or what you have gone through, but you can find sanctuary here. Welcome to the Woodlands, brambles."

She looked up, with her tearstained face.
"Who?" She asked, shakingly. He was referring to a person named Brambles. That was not her name and she had no clue who a Woodland was. "My name isn't Brambles. You must have me mistaken with someone."
She then saw a window and looked outside. The sun was setting. From all the books she had read the perfect time to run from someone was at night.
"I should go." She said, hopping up. She was shaking and wobbling though, quite visibly.

"You aren't going anywhere, brambles," Delvin said. "I don't know your name so until I learn it you are Brambles. Now sit and eat. Your safe here." He pointed to the food he had brought up. "What ever your running from won't get you here."

"I'm not hungry." Athena said, glaring at him. "And you can't keep me here against my will. I'm leaving."
Her father had always said that she should only ever listen to him. He was always right. And he most certainly wouldn't approve of this supposed arrangement that Delvin Oak had come up with.
Her father....would he even come for her? She didn't remember much from the night before. Hushed whispers, and then suddenly, her mother dead on the ground, being proclaimed a traitor. And someone saying that she must have helped her. She had protested, but they kept saying they were right. Eventually she began running. She didn't know what had become of her father.

Delvin shrugged and stood aside. "Fine, have fun dealing with the rest of the village, brambles. They would love you. The new damsel in distress in town." Delvin said. "Kayla would probably love taking care of you, and she wouldn't even give you the question of leaving."
He wasn't bluffing. New person in town would cause a lot of up roar and no one would let her leave.
"So, either stay and eat, rest, relax here and I promise I will give you a chance to leave tomorrow, even a guide for a short ways if you need it. Or you walk out now, and have the rest of the town that is waiting outside Mark's door take you." Delvin said.

Athena raised an eyebrow.
"You're bluffing." She said. She calmly walked down the stairs. And she looked outside to see a group of people around the building. He wasn't bluffing. Damn. She went upstairs to see his smirking face.

Delvin watched as she went down and sat down waiting for her to come back up. When she did he couldn't tell if she was pissed or annoyed. "I wasn't bluffing." Delvin said with a smirk. "Now will you sit down and eat, brambles?"

"I said I'm not hungry." She said, crossing her arms across her chest. "And my name isn't Brambles."

"You look like hell. You haven't eaten in a couple days by the looks of it. You fainted in the square. You may not be hunrgy, but you need food." Delvin said. "If your name isn't brambles, and you don't want to be called brambles, which don't expect to happen, Then you might want to tell me your name."

"It's Athena. Happy?" She said, taking the glass of water and drinking it slowly. "And where exactly am I?"

"No where near." Delvin said. "This is the Woodland Settlement. According to Jay, we are myths now outside of the woods."

"Brillant. Bloody brillant." She said, running her finger through her hair. It was dirty and rather greasy and her pretty damn awesome hair style was ruined. Of course, last night seemed like a dream almost.
"I wish Acer was here." She muttered. "And Della."
She sighed.
"Who is Jay, what is a Woodland, and am I even in Rassel anymore?" She asked.
