Dante was sitting in the booth in a bar, waiting for Jay and Charlie and a few other friends to show up. He was...well, he wasn't doing good. He never really was, around this time of the year. It was his wife's birthday.
It'd been five years since she went missing. They'd tried to track her down for years, but she was on a Crescent mission when it happened and thus it was near impossible.
Yes, there had been rumors that she had left him, but he knew it wasn't true. He also knew that she just had to be alive and out there, somewhere. But he didnt' know where. But he hadn't stopped looking. He never would. It was his Ama, for God's sake.
Someone sat down across from him.

Charlie sat down across from his friend, but Jay wanted to give Dante a hug first, which she indicated.
"Hey," the couple said, not together; they weren't that creepy.

He nodded.
"Hey guys." He said, tiredly. He hadn't slept in a few days. Work, ya know? It was hard. Elly was always tellign him off for working too hard. He tended to generally just tell his daughter that he'd try to cut back, but he never did. Aeron wasn't around as much, since he moved out. And Phina was away at school. He had honestly never felt more alone.

"God you look like hell, Smith," Charlie said, as Jay sat down next to him.

"Feel like it, Allen." He said. "Of course, you always look six times worse than me, since you're just so unattractive and all that. Jay, how on earth do you manage?"

"I stock up enough pretty for the both of us," she said. "He used to be hot, guessed it faded."
"Thanks, babe," Charlie muttered.
"Anytime."

"Nah...I never saw it. I was the good looking one. And the smart one. And the tought one. I think he had the...Nah, that was me too. No wonder I used to get all the girls!" Dante said, trying to smile.

Jay and Charlie faked the smiles for their friend. Jay tended to be detached, and well... Charlie- Charlie was Charlie, what he did was a mystery even to his wife, (and author!)
"Gosh, you just build me up!" Charlie said.

"I know. 'Sides, if you want someone to make you feel good, go to your wife or a whore." Dante said. "Not me."

Jay glared.
"Go to a whore, and you're dead as a door nail in the middle of an ice storm after being dropped a hundred feet."

"Yeah yeah, he'd be alive. But he better like adopting," she muttered.
