Today began the trek to the mountains. Smith, Kevin, Mira, a man from the Water tribe, Kyran's body guard and Kyran as well as some person from the Earth Tribe were going. Others were here as well to see them off.
Kevin and Smith each wore a pack for food and other things they would need along the journey. Sitting at the base of the tree, Ingrid and they were laughing, as Smith reenacted the leaf monster, and how he'd perfected his roar.
Kyran's small sachel was slung across her shoulders, with an extra shawl put over her shoulder as her tribe member's tried to talk her out of going. "No, I want to see this for myself, and who knows what kind of help I may be. I'll be more informed. I'm going."
"But please, it's dangerous, we do not have another heir if you die." they argued back.
"And who says I will die?" she asked.
Myran came up to her grand-daughter. "Please, stay."
Kyran looked up to the old woman and sighed, and nodded. She looked at the guard, and whispered some things in his ear. Then she gave him the reins of the Caloma, a mix between cat and bird that many of her tribe used for transportation of goods. "May the wind carry you swiftly."
The warrior nodded and returned, "And keep you safe, my Queen."
They both nodded, and Kyran walked off, keeping her temper in check.
Soon someone called for them to start leaving.

Mira and Pyramus were at the lead, as both of them were the guides for this little jaunt into the Mountains.
It was to be a long journey, given that it took two weeks to walk there, a few days to explore and learn and another two weeks to return. Mira was kind of happy about this though. She was going home, at least for a bit. One of the plans even was to camp at the Water Homestead when they got there, so she would have at least a night in her home, even if she couldn't spend it in her cabin with her family. She knew that she and Pyramus were going to trying to salvage items from the remains of the village, to use in the coming months.
They moved out and walked and walked and walked. They camped at night and walked in the day, stopping only periodically.

Every night at the camp, when Kevin would light a small fire for a little warmth considering how cold it was becoming at night, Smith would tell stories, about silly things, and inane tasks of dumb warriors. Soon the other's joined him, and they all shared their folk lore.
The air Warrior, Ralon, told stories about how the wind gave their tribe wings, but then a warrior broke the trust of the wings, and grew to big for his wings, and he crashed to the ground, their goddess so disappointed stripped away the wings, instead making them work for their ability to fly.
The Earth warrior even started to tell stories of his tribe.

Mira told of the God of the Sea who had a hundred children by the mortal woman Aya and sent his children to live upon land with her. They were blessed by their father, but feared by their mother's people for their knowledge of water and they fled north and set up their own kind near the mountains and the rivers and lakes and to this day, that was where they remained.
The Tree people who had come along told stories of how the trees were once alive and sentient and trusted only a few mortal men with the secrets of their power, before they settled down into one spot and became rooted there for all eternity.
And Pyramus told of beings as cold as ice and as hard as stone who sprang up from the ground back in the old days and brought destruction to the world.

On the last night, before they made it to the Water Village, all of them were good friends, and knew each other well, so around the camp fire, Kevin and Smith were telling a couple people about the Phoenix legend of their tribe, until the Ralon pulled out his instrument and started up a dancing tune. Kevin and Smith both smiled, and got up and started dancing- with each other having no clue what they were doing.
Soon, Smith offered Mira a hand to dance and Kevin had asked one of the tree girls. The earth guy though needed some coaxing to get up and dance.

Mira accepted, of course and the two danced. Now, Mira didn't really know how to dance to the type of music playing and she had only ever danced with her father before, but even so, she thought she was doing fine.
So with her hands on Smith's shoulders and his on her waist, because that was how people danced, they danced to the music, at a fast and fun pace.

Smith lifted her up ath the appropriate time in the music, and made up for her lack of experience, since in the fire tribe, every one danced nearly constantly. It was just their thing, the loved to dance.
One of the girls from the tree tribe, got up and offered a hand to the Earth guy. He looked up shocked, but took the hand.

They looked happy together, the Tree girl and the Earth Guy.
Mira, like many of the other people, was laughing. At one point, many of these tribes had been enemies, but right here, right now, they were just having fun and acting like normal human beings to one another.

Through the laughter and cheers they didn't hear the tussle of leaves around them at first.
Kevin was the first to hear it, and he stilled. Smith heard it next, placing Mira down gently, glaring at their surroundings. The music stopped when Ralon heard it and finally the Earth guy and his partner stopped, his arm still around her waist, protectively. As all of them had frozen a roar erupted.

Out of the woods came a thing twenty feet high, thirty feet wide. Mira stared at it, too scared to move. Others were running for the cover of the woods, save for a few that were either too brave to leave or too scared to process that they should be running.

Smith pushed Mira and yelled at her to run while he lunged for his sword.
The Air guy was already up the air, and Kevin's sword already on fire. The earth guy kicked the ground and was as high as the Ralon.

She ran, while Pyramus stayed, with his bow and arrow. His water power may not be able to affect the monster, but he was apart of the group who had gone up against them before, so she figured he must know what he was doing. She found some of the others who were hiding as those guys fought.

They tried to hold back the giant but it really wasn't working.
Kevin's sword fire and all didn't do much, if any damage. He was right he needed stronger fire.
Smith started yelling everyone to run.
The earth bender though had an idea, he called the air bender over and they spoke for a moment before they started on their plan.
Alstiar, the earth bender, put up a wall behind and infront of the Giant's feet, and once that was up, Ralon hit the giant straight in the knees with blasts of air, tiping him over so he fell on his back giving everyone time to run.

And run they did. As far as they could, taking as much of the supplies as they could grab from the campsite they had set up. They ran until they knew the Ice Giant could not catch up easily.
Mira, composing herself, did a quick headcount.
"Is everyone ok?" She asked.

Smith looked around, and took note if he had any injures.
No one spoke up about anything major they were suffering from. Everyone appeared to be fine.
The entire group took a sigh of relief.
Then Kevin looked at Smith. "Smith! You're bleeding..." he pointed to Smith's side.
