Langston and Daxton were called down to the wedding party. Langston had been roped into being the best man, which meant he had to look regal/royal, something along those lines. This did not please him.
He tugged at the collar. "This is itchy." he complained.
Daxton chuckled, leaning against a wall. "Ha." he said. "That's what you get for sneaking up on me."
Langston grimaced. "Stupid karma."

Juliet was told by one of the people in charge that she needed to go inform the groom's party to get themselves down the aisle.
So she went over to the best man.
"If you don't get yourself and the groom down that aisle and at the altar, Hell's about to go down." She told him. "Now go! Go! Go!"

Langston blinked. What? Oh! Yeah! Wedding.
He scratched his collar again and pushed Daxton towards the aisle. Daxton took the hint and started moving.

Deidra was set to go down the aisle just a few minutes later. Her father took her arm and Juliet handed her the bouquet of orange blossoms, narcissus, and zinnias.
She glided down the aisle on weak knees and a thud in the pit of her stomach.
This was forever. Like forever forever. No escape, no breaks, no vacations. Forever.
Good God that was scary.
When had she agreed to this again? Well, it was too late to back out now.
She stared straight ahead at the frescoes of saints and religious scenes that adorned the wall behind the altar.
By the end of one half hour, she would be married or one word away from being married.

The king, teary eyed gave his daughter to her groom, and sat down next to his wife, who already had tears streaking down her face.

She had hardly been able to stand her aunts' wailings yesterday night when all the womenfolk in her life had decided to gather together to drink wine and gab about her childhood and her future with her.
She did not know how she was going to be able to not cry with her tough mother crying.
She knew that standing in front of the groom she had to look like a scared child made to look like an adult.
Because that's how she felt.
The priest began the ceremony. In his fashion, during his preachings, he told a story or two from each spouse's childhood. And he told the eclipse story, along with another story that involved two ponies, a jousting tournament, a knight, and two fourteen year old girls.
Of course, nothing scandalous happened. It was just embarrassing.
Then again, both girls did get to learn how to do basic swordplay after that.
That was fun.
She really didn't pay attention after her stories, which came before the groom's.
She zoned out in her worries of whether or not she was old enough or mature enough or even ready enough for marriage.
And then remembered to follow along when she was told to say her vows.

Daxton listened to the sermon in the in one ear and out the other type way, and soon he was told to say his vows.
Langston later told him the stories that were mentioned, and that rattled some laughter out of Daxton's memory. It was a mighty fine horse after all.
He remembered the walk back down the aisle as a flurry of rice and people wishing them well, then finally they got into the carriage. Daxton looked at his bride, and then asked, "What's you favorite color?"

She had barely noticed anything at all. Shock and that sort of thing. She remembered the walk, some rice, and getting into a carriage. But it was all rather distant and hazy and not at all as if she was living it. More as if she was watching it.
And then someone actually spoke directly to her and it shocked her.
What was her favorite color?
Did she actually have one?
It wasn't the same one as the one from last year, right?
No, that's right, she saw that spider that was blue and she hates spiders enough that it stopped being her favorite color.
Well, green was pretty.
And she wore it all the time.
And it was the color on her family's coat of arms, so there's a plus.
Ok, green. She went with green.
"Green." She said.
As an afterthought, she added "What's yours?"

Alboin had never been filled with more pride than when his sons got married. And to see his son get married to the child of his best friend? Well, that was all the happiness he would ever need. Now hopefully his son didn't mess it up.....
He went over to his friend after the ceremony.
"Let us feast and drink, my dearest friend. To the long marriage and good health of our children?" He asked.

Daxton nodded, putting that away in his memory. He was going to live with this girl for the rest of his life, he might as well know something about her.
"Brown," he answered.

Ramon grinned at his friend.
"Sounds like a plan to me, old friend." Ramon said. "Let us go celebrate our children and our own health!"

She nodded and curled up the best she could on her seat and looked out the carriage window to the slowly changing landscape.
She hadn't a clue where they were going.
She wasn't sure she really cared, for that matter.

Daxton looked out the window, for a short bit.
"I think we're headed to the border castle," he said.

She looked at him for a moment and nodded in agreement.
The carriage ride took a while, which was probably why they were married fairly early in the day. They got there around dinner time, in fact.
The carriage pulled to a stop.

Daxton got out, and offered his new bride a hand down from the carriage.
