Rigan gave her hand a little squeeze back.

She shrugged alittle.
"Same as always I guess." She said.

Rigan frowned and told her to come sit closer to him. He put his arm around her.
"Don't let them put you down, serce." he told her.

She put her head on his shoulder and looked up at him.
"What would you have me do?" She asked.

Rigan looked at her.
"I think you should just ignore them. Your great the way you are." he said. "Don't let them tell you any different."

"It's big, it's noisy, it's bright, and the people are mean." She said. "I don't really like it. What do you think of it?"

"You are a true farm girl," Rigan told her with a grin. "When do you get to go back home?"

She shrugged.
"Whenever I'm sent for, I guess." She said. "It's really up to Pa."

Rigan nodded. His arm became a little tighter around her.
"How soon do you think that will be? Isn't it almost planting season?" he asked her.

"Probably once planting season rolls around, I'll have to go." She said. She looked at Rigan and it looked like something was upsetting him.
"Are you sure you're ok?" She asked.

Rigan put on a smile.
"Yeah I'm fine." he said. "Is the staying with your aunt an one time thing?"
