Jason, with so many of the other commoners, was in the throne room. Tomorrow was his twenty first birthday and technically he was eligible for the throne then. Or at least might have been had the Law of Succession not be written so that illegitimate sons couldn't take over, even when the current King was ruining the country.
He just wanted to see his brother, though. Jason had been all over the country and loved exploring new places, but he had never been to Kyyra. Or atleast not inside it. The city's poverity was a major contrast to the grandeur of the palace. He scoffed to himself when the King came out. He was draped in so much cloth and decorated with so much gold and jewels that Jason failed to see how he was able to walk.
"Good God." He whispered to himself.

"Yeah, it's pretty damn extravagent, ain't it loser?" She asked. "Of course, you're probably still holding out the hope that he's going to see you in the crowd, recognize you, even though he's never seen you, and proclaim you the rightful king. You dreamer."
She had followed him quietly, even though he had told her to "go shopping and do something girly for once in your life." Yeah right.

"Hello to you too, Mini." He said. "And no. I do not hold out any silly hope like that. Would be nice though. Makes my life easier."
He rolled his eyes and looked down at her. He was taller than the average person, but she was also shorter than the average person, which lead to him calling her Mini.
"I suppose there were no shops open or did you just decide that you wanted to stalk me?" He asked.

Rowena smiled slyly.
"Call it a hunch, but I figured you would get into trouble-again-and need my help. Again." She said. "So I chose door two. Besides, shoppings no fun without you to tease."
She looked up at the reigning monarch.
"Come on. I'm sick of this shit. I can't stomach him or his policies and morals. Let's go." She said.

He held his hand up.
"No. I want to hear this." He said. In the distance they could hear great boasting of power.
"My people! I, as your king have come up with a way to end this accursed war with Rassel and return to our normal way of life! In the coming months you shall see my plan come into play! For it was I and I alone who managed to come up with this, I succeed where my ministers and advisers failed! Good day!" He disappeared back into the confines of his court and the common people were ushered out.
"We'll see how this one plays out, right Mini?" He asked.

She rolled her eyes.
"Well then, big mighty Jason, what are you going to do about it? You're just the illigetimate son of an unpopular king, who has an even more unpopular son. For all you know, you're one of many, many illigetimate sons. Hate to break it to ya, sweetheart, but you don't even know whether or not the new king isn't one of those who likes executing his opposition." She said.

"Well, sweetheart, I don't know that. In fact, I know next to nothing, but people have gone on to great things on less than that, so I figure I'm already ahead." Jason said. "And you know we could still go shopping."
He laughed at her face at the suggestion of that. It really was fun watching her squirm.

"I don't know who you are thinking of, but it's not me. Must be your secret other woman." She said. "Because it definitely isn't me. So we're at this. Who is she and where can I find her? I must go and complain about you with her."

"Yeah, I soooo have time to go and cheat on you, Mini." He said. "You and your disruptive nature keeps me on my toes enough. Especially when you touch things after I say don't touch anything. Like that time in the Eldrest Caverns."

"What about that time I saved your ass in the Alvernon Mountains? Or the Zebutite Valley? Or the...." She said, being cut off by him.

"And I've said it so many times Mini, you're a lifesaver. What on earth would I do without you?" He asked. "Wait! I know! Have a normal, nondisruptive life? After all, if you weren't around, I wouldn't have to climb through trapdoors to retrieve you."

"You enjoy it and you know it." Rowena said, laughing. "Besides, how normal can you be? If I recall correctly, YOU ask ME out. Meaning you sought out the insanity. And you can't escape now! It's got you in it's clutches!"
She grabbed his hand and drug him through the crowd as it spilled out into the open courtyard that lead back into the city.
"Come on slowpoke!" She said, laughing.

"I"m sorry, I'm too tall to make it through this crowd. But you can go on ahead." He said, laughing. He didn't let go of her hand though. He just simply stopped. Of course, this earned him a glare from those around him and his "beloved" Mini.

She gave a playful tug on his arm.
"Come on!" She said, laughing. "Oh wait, I know! There's something here and you wanna investigate it! What is it?"
