Ron frowned. "There is no proof." she said. "Faith would be the only proof. Or a mirical. You don't have faith, and haven't seen a mirical, so for you, there is no proof.

"I dont' need a miracle. I know that there is nothing out there." Bran said. "Putting your faith in something only leads to disappointment and depression."

Saffron was about to answer then shut her mouth. He was right. Her parents had believed so strongly in that first 'prophecy' that they had died because of it. They had put to much stock in her curse, or blessing as her papi called it. If they hadn't maybe they would still be here.
Saffron just sighed and took a black rose out of her sleeve and twirled it.

"Stieg des Todes!" Carmina said, gasping. She knew one thing about flowers: that a black rose meant death.
Her mother had firmly believed in the power of flowers and their meanings. That if you gave someone a black rose, they would die soon after. If you gave someone a yellow rose, you would marry them. So on and so forth. So it was only natural that she would pick up on some of that.

Ron nodded. "Oui, rose de mort." she said.
Ron always kept one on her. It was almost like the carnation in her hair, always present.

"Pech ist es, diejenigen, die schwarze Rose tragen beigefügten" Carmina said. She loved flowers, of course. But black roses? That was bad luck. Bad signs.

Saffron shook her head. "Black Roses signifier la mort. La mort signifie beaucoup de choses, tous ne sont pas nécessairement mauvais." Ron said looking at the flower.

"Der Tod ist das Ende des Lebens. Das Leben ist Hoffnung. Der Tod ist das Ende der Hoffnung. Wenn wir verlieren, verlieren wir alle." Carmina said.

Saffron still stared at the rose. "La mort n'est pas toujours sur la vie. La dernière bataille d'une guerre peut être la mort de la guerre, le dernier mot dans une bagarre peut être la mort de ce combat. La mort est la finalité, non pas la fin de vie." Ron said.

"Der Tod ist der letzte Stand der Hoffnung. Death Hoffnung tötet. Hoffnung ist alles, was wir haben. Es stirbt, sterben wir." Carmina said. "Alles, was wir brauchen, ist Liebe, aber alles, was wir haben, ist Hoffnung."

Saffron sighed. She didn't feel like having this discussion right now. She had a hard time explaining the black rose to people. Ron hadn't lost hope but she had accepted death. "La plupart d'amour de l'espoir." She tucked the rose back up she sleeve. "Mieux?"

"Viel." Carmina said. "Danka."
It was irrational she knew, to have a fear of a flower. But it was so ingrained in her that she couldn't help it. It was at the very roots of her system of belief that the black rose symbolized death and bad luck.

He rolled his eyes and smiled at Thane.
"Silly superstitious Thane." He said, kissing her head.

Saffron smiled. "Happy couple!" Ron said. "You make such a cute couple...even with a guy like diable. Cute couple!"

"Hmm...Bran, it seems as though we have a fan." Carmina said. "Though I think she was backhand complimenting you."
