It was with a heavy heart that Karin Gillia laid her daughter on the steps of the church. The child was alittle more than five hours old, and was being given up.
In an hour or so someone would come out and find her. Hopefully. She left a note, with the child's name in it. She wanted her child to be named Elin. It meant torch, a light. She only hoped the child would be a light to someone else.
She heard someone coming, so she ran.

Annamae came out onto the steps of the church an hour before dawn, as was her habit, when she found the child. Picking her up, she opened the note.
"Elin, is that your name? Well, that will never do. You need a good name. Hmmm...How about Sonja? Wisdom. Well, you dont' have much of it now, but you will." Annamae said. "Everything is going to be ok, little one."
She looked around for another person, possibly the mother. She didn't see anyone, so she took the child inside.
Maybe it was only concidence, but Annamae was the runner of the orphanage in the church. There weren't many abandoned children, so it was a small project, but this child would be safe with them.

A three year old Harper went up to Sister Annamae. He had woken up because of a bad dream and went to find her. He and Alex were the only kids who lived in the orphanage. He was three, Alex was five. Sister Annamae was holding a baby.
"Who that?" He asked, pointing to the child.

"This is a new child that I found, Harper. Her name is Sonja. Can you say Sonja?" She asked. He tried to pronounce it, and failed.
"Like this, Song-ya." She said, encouragingly. He suceed this time. "Good. Now, I have to put her in her crib. Go back to bed."
