Late for class ~open~

[Tavi]

"Come on! Hurry up! Were going to be late!" Tavi called to his friend.
They went to school in the capital the school where all of the nobles sent their kids. Tavi's father was one of the Generals that advised the king. Tavi was expected to fill his shoes.

[Kenna]

"Ok Tavi" Kenna said, flipping her dark braids and running up the stairs. Her mother was a noble woman and her father was a rich man by his own doing. Her mother had died recently, but she had always been a daddy's girl, so while she was sad, she wasn't as devastated as her younger sister Parisa. She, as the oldest would be the one to inherit the title of Duchess of West Elderion, a province of Rassel, just south of Miska.

When recess rolled around, she and Tavi played tag.

"Tavi, I dont' ever wanna grow up" She said.

[Tavi]

"Yeah if I was you I wouldn't either. I'd hate having to rule over anyone. But you do get to make important decisions! When do you have to go back?" Tavi asked becoming morose. He didn't like the prospect of Kenna going back, he would miss her.

[Kenna]

"Father says I only have to go during the summer. But he wants my after school time spent learning how to be a Duchess. I don't want to though. I wanna give the job to Parisa, but Father said that I can't, and that one day I would enjoy my job. But I don't wanna do this! I wanna be a normal girl like Parisa! But she wants to be me!" Kenna said.

[Tavi]

"Yuck! Duchess lessons? That sucks! You should be able to give it to Parisa if she wants it!" Tavi said. He was glad she'd be here but no summer and after school would be hard.

[Kenna]

"I can't though! She got engaged. Father said that if she got engaged now and her future is stable then he can focus his attention on me. She's gonna get married in 14 years when she's 18. She's gonna be a Countess. He said that her future Mother-in-Law is gonna take over her training. " Kenna said. "He said that I would get the hour before dinner, which is at 5 to play with my friends."

[Tavi]

"At least we can play for a while! Who is she engaged to?" Tavi asked. It was normal for people to get engaged young around here. It was just part of the way things worked. Tavi was engaged to some girl he barely knew.

[Kenna]

"Troy Oaker." Kenna said. "I'm also engaged. To Brandon Savoyer. He's gonna be a duke. He's 12, and his province is even bigger than mine. How's Reachelle, your finacee? Didn't you say that she was coming for a few days on her trip around the country?"

[Tavi]

"yeah she is, elack. I really hope she doesn't stay very long, she is so proper and polite it is so annoying. She NEVER plays anything except cards! When is your fiance visting?" Tavi asked. Rea was okay but he didn't like the idea of getting married to her. Tavi hated the idea of arranged marriage. He may be young but he wanted to get married to someone he loved not some one his parent thought should he should be married to. His parents marriage didn't work and it was arranged.

[Kenna]

"Bran's visiting next week. I'm gonna be out of school then. He's cool. He'll climb trees with me and go exploring. He's really really nice." Kenna said. "I'm kinda excited. Parisa's finace is visiting at the same time, so I get to meet him. He's our age."

[Tavi]

"Cool. Guess I won't be seeing you much... Well I hope Troy is cool." Tavi said. He was starting to close off a bit. When he got home tonight his dad was going to put him through military training patterns and he just remembered. His dad would be harder on him since Kenna wasn't going to be there.

[Kenna]

"Yeah. I hope Rea's fun." Kenna said. The bell rang and they headed back inside. That was gonna be that last time they could talk together for awhile, and she knew that.

[Tavi]

"Bye, Kenna. See you around." Tavi said. He knew he wasn't going to talk to her any time soon but that was just another part of life.
