Kevin was at the cabin earlier than he usual was to meet Ingrid. And he was pacing.
A lot of pacing.

He paced as he waited for her.

She tiptoed into the cottage, hoping to be first so that she could hide and scare him when he came in. But rat's beard, he was first. She smiled though, widely, and went over to him when she entered the cottage. But he did not look well.
"Hey there." She said, softly. "What's wrong?"

He looked at her, he couldn't help a small smile, but that soon faded.
"I don't have good news." he said, sadly.

She went over and sat on the bed that had been very well loved as of late and patted the section next to her.
"Tell me about it?" She asked.

He sat down next to her.
He at first sat there frowning, the phrasing he'd come up with earlier out of his head. He took one of her hands and examined it.
"Smith and I went on one of our...excursions," Kevin started. "And when we came home, my dad wanted to see us, to tell us something. We were really surprised, but dad said that we needed to. For the village, so that the sickness doesn't destroy us."

Kevin placed his head in his hands, that were still cradling her hand. After a long pause, he breathed and looked up at her.
He frowned, and said, "My father has allied us with the Earth Tribe."

Her eyes widened a bit and her breathing hitched. Earth tribe? Oh no. Oh no. No no no no.
"Oh." Was all she said, after a moment.
She took the hand that he was cradling and locked her fingers with his and squeezed. This was most definitely not good.

He squeezed back and kissed her hand.

"What now?" She asked, softly. It was already hard enough to get away from her village. Security restrictions had gone up so much in the past few months that one could barely leave their own home. Now, with this, if someone found out, they could both be in huge trouble. If someone from her side found them, she knew the consequences would be fatal for someone.

Kevin shook his head "I dunno." he said.
He sighed.
"But I had thought about it. I don't want either of us in that danger, maybe," he paused. "We should stop seeing each other till I bring my dad to his senses."

She thought for a moment. Of course she didn't want that. But at the same time...Did she really wish to put them at risk? No.
She kissed him and touched his face.
"Send word when you do?" She asked.

She laughed a little and smiled. She quickly sobered up though.
"I should probably go soon." She said. "I'll be wanted back in the village."

He nodded, stood and motioned for her to join him.
When she did he gave her a tight hug.
