They were discussing how to get home- to the encampment.
He felt someone tap him on the shoulder and ask to cut in.

Phyre's jaw tightened, but he stepped aside.
It would be one of the last times that the poor bastard would see the girl he loved. Now that Phyre was tied to May, he felt pity for Aeron.
"Of course." Phyre said, teeth clenched. Pity and hatred.

He waved at Auntie Jay, who was laughing at her daughter's attempt to gain a few inches.
