They ordered. Saffron got a beer with the higest alcohol content. Carrie wasn't old enough to drink so she got a non-alcoholic beverage. Bran didn't get what he usually did though, odd, his drink didn't have any alcohol in it. The drinks came back imediatly but the food would take a little longer.
"What about you Bran, What are your parents like?" Saffron asked.

"My mother is the daughter of a merchant and a baroness. My father is a military man and is the rank of general by now." Bran said. "I suppose they're off sitting in their manor getting richer and happier."
Bran, being the only grandchild of his grandparents on both sides was therefore the only candidate to take of the title of Baron of Wexclel when his granmother died.

"That must be interesting. Our diable is royalty. The son of a baroness." Ron said. "Are you going to inherit or do you have a big brother or cousin that will take over that job?"

Bran laughed.
"Royalty would mean that I'm inheriting a country, Ron. Not an impoverished Baron's title." Bran said. "And no. I don't have an older brother or cousin. I kinda wish I did. Even an older sister would be able to take the title away from me and leave me to do as I pleased."

"Oh, well, I'm still going to call you royalty." Saffron said. "You don't want to inherit the land? Why not? You would still be able to travel and such wouldn't you?" Ron had no idea how these things worked, the best she had were fariy tales and those always ended at the happily ever after.

"There is no land. That was all lost a few generations back. All I would get is the title, my grandfather's money from his merchanting business, and paperwork. Not exactly what I want." Bran said.

"If there is no land why would you have paper work?" Ron asked. "The money I understand but the paperwork? You have no land, what kind of paper work could they give you?"

"Official stuff that comes with the title. Approving laws, helping decide punishment for criminals. All that stuff." Bran said. "It actually piles up apparently."

Saffron nodded. "Oh, yeah, I can see why you don't want the title." she said. She took a long swig from her beer. "Can you still be in the Army with the title?"

"Nope." Bran said. "The only reason my father can be in the military is because my mother's parents are still alive and have the title."

Ron frowned. Bran was a soldier, which means it would be hard as hell for him to give up the army. Even though it was Bran and he was very mean to her most of the time she felt bad. No one should have to give up what the wanted. "I'm sorry." she said.

Carmina took his hand and smiled reassuringly at him. He gave her a smile in return.

"Somehow I think I'll live." Bran said. He didn't like it, but family was family and it was his duty. And it was a safer job than the army. But in all honesty, he didn't care about that. He just loved what he did right now and hated the fact he would have to become something else.

Saffron half smiled. She had a feeling that he meant survive more than he meant living. Living and Surviving were two different things.
The waitress came with the food. "Thank you." Ron said taking the food. She turned back to her friends, with a smile. They were a really cute couple. "Happy couple," Saffron whispered under her breath.

"It's really nice not having to be the waitress for once." Carmina said. "What do you think Saffron? Should we get out more?"
