Jay was taking her monthly trip to the Woodland encampment. She loved seeing her old friends and she always wanted to make sure every thing was running smoothly. There was one other reason she took these trips-- May needed to follow her to learn where the encampment was. Jay wasn't allowed to tell her daughter where it was but she still needed May to know where it was.
She had told May about the truth of her heritage when she was 13 but she had also told her daughter the Woodlanders had all died or come into everyday society out of original isolation.
Finally May was following her. At first she hadn't noticed because May was doing a good job of covering up her tracks but as the journey continued May started slipping a few times. "Dear? Why don't you just join me?" Jay called to her daughter.

May had noticed her mother leaving every now and again but she had never paid much attention to it when she was younger. Mom left all the time; she was a guide after all. May had noticed over the last few months that her mother went away for five days every month at the same day of the month. May had gotten curious. Her dad always told mom something different than normal whey mom left for these trips. She was probably just over thinking it but it was worth a shot.
This time when her mom left she told dad she was going over to Elly and Aeron's, which she did- to pick up what she would need for the hike. Then she took off after her mother. Her mom was good at what she did so it was a little hard to find but her mom had stopped by the old cabin before so she was easy to follow after that.
"Dear? Why don't you just join me?" She heard her mother call. "How long have you known i was there?" May asked running to catch up with her mother.

Jay smiled as May caught up. "For about three miles now. You were being a little noisy a while back." Jay told her. "We'll work on that later. I'm just glad you finally followed me. I was getting worried that you wouldn't figure it out." Jay said. She speed up a bit. "Come on, we're here!"

"Wait! What?" May said. She was confused. Her mom wanted her to follow her? "Mom!?" May called as her mother speed up making May run again. Her mom pushed aside some trees to what looked like a busy town square. In the middle of the forest? What the? "Mom, Where are we?" May asked.

Jay smiled at her confused child. "Well, May Robin Welcome to the Woodland encampment." Jay said. "This is where most of the Woodlanders went after the war ended. You are now one of the Gate Keeper, for lack of better word, for the settlement." Jay was finding the look on her daughter's face hilarious but didn't let May see that.

May was in shock. Her mother had told her that the Woodlanders were gone now. That they would become legend like they had already started becoming. "But... You said they were all gone." May said slowly. Her mom had started walking into the encampmet and May followed. The place was brillant there were a lot of aroma's and a good amount of people. It was almost like the market place at home.

Jaysn went through the market place with May at her heels. She waved to some people she knew and eventually made it to a small coffee/tea shop and sat down. May sat opposite her. "Yes, I did tell you they were all gone and as far as the rest of the world is concerned they are. The woodlanders had been known before when the first war started now they are in a more secure location more secluded and can live how they have always wished-- with out bother from the outside world. Unfortunately they do need contacts to the out side world because of many ifs that came up during the original discussion of the remaining woodlanders. Like what if another war breaks out." Jay told May.

May nodded and tried to absorb what her mother had just told her. "So, I'm the connection to the outside world? And you are too?" May asked as a waitress, probably the owner's daughter by the looks of it asked for their orders. They got two lemon teas.

Jay nodded. "Yes, that is your job. Your inherited one at least. There are others as well but each brings different information. The woodlands arn't worried about the Rassi soiders now because we were legend before in their country now woodlands are complete myth." Jay said. "You now have to carry on the task after I'm gone so I'll have to introduce you to some of the elders and just show you what being a woodland is really." Jay smiled. She had been training May Robin since the girl was small to be a guide. Now, May just had to understand the other part of her job.

"Okay! I like the way this place seems so far. It seems full of life!" May said. She wanted to get to know the people that helped raise her mother more. Her mom always seemed to have a different view than her dad. Though she wasn't really looking forward to meeting the leaders. They were probably old guys. The waitress brought them their drinks. "Thank you," May said to her and took a sip of the hot liquid.

Jay laughed at her daughters excitement. "Yes they are full of life. A lot like the forest is. But remember dear don't get into a fight or there could be very bad consequences." Jay warned her. "Finish the tea then we'll go out to the market." Jay said taking a sip of her own tea.

May nodded at her mothers warining. She finished her tea as quickly as she could with out burning her self. Her mom left a few coins on the table and they went out to the busy market place. There were many people out of all ages. There were moms chasing around kids while trying to get the groceries. There were kids about her age at the stores selling food and goods. A blacksmith was pounding out a sword.

Jay lead May over to the blacksmith. "Hey, Mark!" Jay called to the man working on the sword. He had just plunged it into the water that was next to his station.
Mark smiled and looked up. "Hey, Jay. Your daughter has finally joined you I see."
Jay nodded. "Yeah it took her long enough. Do you mind if she borrows Phyre for a little while. I think it would be better if someone her own age showed her around."
Mark called Phyre over. "That should be fine. I won't need any help any time soon. Phyre do you mind showing this lady around?"

Phyre was working on fixing a few knives for one of the settlers when he heard Mark call him over. He noticed Jay and a girl about his age next to her. Probably Jay's daughter. "Sure I'd love to." Phyre said.

May nodded. Phyre seemed nice. He didn't look to shabby either. She put out her hand to him. "Hi, I'm May Robin." He shook her hand. She said bye to her mom and followed Phyre out of the smithy.
