Lily had been living in her rented flat in Shireton for about a week now. But it was enough time to get unpacked and get her art studio set up. She had a comission from a wealthy man to paint his wife a portrait of a sunset. So, because it was early afternoon, Lily was painting for fun and not for a job.
She was proud of herself. She was barely nineteen and she had her own place. At an age where most girls were still living at home, she had her own place, her art, and comissions coming in.
She heard a knock at the door.
"Come in!" She called from her studio.

"Eyo Gabe!" Lily said, turning around to see her friend. "What's up?"
She looked down at her painting. She really hadn't been paying attention, she was just painting.
"I don't know. What does that look like to you?" She asked. She knew that his response wouldn't be artistic or imginative, but she liked his opinions.

Gabe looked at the painting. "Blue, red and yellow put on a canvas with a paint brush." Gabe said.

"God you can be an idiot sometimes. What do the shapes look like? How does it make you feel? Gabriel Elias Aquatine, be normal. Please." Lily said, rolling her eyes. "I need real feedback."

"Concidering my increased brain capacity,I do not believe it is possible for me to be normal. I can try though." Gabe said. He looked at it again. "The shapes look like waves. It makes me feel peaceful."

"Thank you Gabe." Lily said. "That's exactly what I needed to hear. Ok, I sell as an abstract ocean and get rich. You want a cut of the profits?"
She looked around.
"What are you doing here anyway?" She asked.

"No, thank you." Gabe said to her offer. "I thought I would stop by and see what the new flat was like. How are you liking it?"

"It's fine. I'm sure a big brain like yours could easily find several ways to make it fit more stuff in it and make it more living friendly, but I like it." She said, teasingly. "And I'm sure that your Mom is going to bring over casserol later, right? I've got six of them so far. Tuna, chicken, turkey, ham, sweet potato, and egg. I don't like sweet potatos or eggs, I have that tuna allergy, and the turkey is too dry, so I'm going to survive off the ham one for a few days."

"Well, It is very likely. You could move the couch over there- Never mind, It is your apartment, you should arrange it how you wish to." Gabe said. "Yes, Mom is bringing over a casserole later, I don't know what she made it with though. Ham casserole, it sounds appetizing."

"I've got six pounds of it. Mrs. Herring, the one with the ten kids, is used to cooking for an army. And all of her kids are grown up now, so she's got no one but little old me to feed. So I've got six pounds of ham casserole. You want some?" Lily asked.

"No, thank you. I ate a short while ago." Gabe said. "It is a very bad habit to get into to eat when you are not hungry. Who else has dropped food off for you?"

"The Herrings, the Unclines, the Ayres, the Ernests, the Isilas, and the Teslaya's." Lily said, counting them off. "And I suppose it is. Except sometimes you get so hungry that your stomach goes numb and you don't know that you're hungry anymore."

"So you still have my mom and May's mom to stop by before you get all the food you will end up with. May's mom isn't going to bring a casserole as far as I know though. I think I heard May muttering about picking up some ingredients for a cake." Gabe said. "Which is why you need to eat three times a day. If you can."

"I'm an artist, Gabriel. Certainly you realize that me eating three times a day isn't going to happen since I get sucked into my work. " Lily said. "Besides, you don't eat three times a day."
